Banff Chap 4

It has been a whirl wind few weeks, The mountain opened on the 15th Nov and Work has been all consuming. I have managed to get a couple of days riding in but the snow is still a scarce resource, which is a funny thing to say as we live in a ski village.
We went on a roadie to the United States, YEE HAW. We stayed in a wee town called Whitefish in Montana. It was no Austin Texas but we enjoyed the hospitality and plenty of random conversations with locals who could not get over our accents. The beer was served in jam jars and was only $1.25. Needless to say the next morning was confronting on the senses. We travelled back to Sunshine via Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, An interpretive centre where the Native Canadians used to drive Buffalo of a massive cliff. A very cool place well worth the visit.
Since then Trappers (mountain bar) and snowboarding has been our entertainment source, of which there have been peaks and troughs.

Peaks:
1) Opening morning had seen a dump of 10cm overnight and powder was everywhere! Its so soft and fluffy flumery instantly came to mind and I had a ball on the mountain.
2) Wednesday is dance night at Trappers, very good night and I actually danced, for ages. I officially appologise to anyone who was unlucky enough to witness the catastrophe that is John on the dance floor.
3) We went to Banff hot springs which were awesome, with a capital O. 40 degrees in the water and its snowing on your head. bliss.

Troughs:
1) Working a little too hard, but I guess that is how we do it. We just can't help ourselves. I blame our parents for instilling us with such a hard work ethic.
2)3)4) and 5) Anna went out for her first snowboard and was loving it, untill.... a stray back edge was hit and Head wrist and snow collided. Consequently a fOOSH (fallen on outstretched hand) occured. After a trip to the A & E and $800 later Anna emerged with a broken radius and a half cast. Thank god for travel insurance. Its O.K though, we have become Mr and Mrs Positive (The title is no longer yours Liv) and we have made a list of all the good things that will come of it:
1) More delegating = less work
2) The sympathy vote
3) Bowe is once again house hubby (a common theme occuring)
4) Not biting nails on right hand
5) Anna is actually ambidextrous
6) Anna will now not have to decide what to wear as there are only a few clothing items she can put on herself
7) Anna doesn't have to shave her legs
8) Travel insurance investment will be a 100% return.
9) We can re-use our plastic bags for showers
10) Anna will have a really skinny right arm
11) Anna's snowboard makes a really good clothesline
12) Anna will learn the art of being patient/ a patient
13) Every one on the mountain now knows her name
14) We can rent her board for money, when not being used as a clothesline
15) Bowe now has an official snowboarding photographer
16) More time to spend in Trappers.
17) Mum will send me a big care package? Actually that goes for anyone...
send to:
Anna Saunders
Staff Accomodation
Sunshine Village
PO Box 1510
Banff, AB, CAnada

18) At least she can still work, would be really hard living up here and not being able to work or play.

So lucky to have John looking after me, can't dress or shower myself very easily. I get breakfast and lunch made for me, don't think I could cope without him. Shirley you would be so proud!

Anyway back to the Doctor next week for check up so will keep you informed. Should be back on the board in about 3 weeks cast'n'all, thinking I will go back to skiing for a while.

Hope everyone is well thanks for all your comments on here. And Facebookers we'll be there soon. Promise!

Look after yourselves

Okay, well I am glad many great things have come out of can only be called an unfortunate situation. The title of Ms/Mrs Positive is no longer mine on the grounds of insane length of time of sleep deprivation...do you know that is actually a form of torture? Treat the title well, I hope to reclaim it one day. Until then suck it up!
