Merry Christmas!

Hello all,

It is christmas day, its snowing and Anna and I are both working. Well, I guess what I'm doing now is not technically work but I'm at work. We had a really fun night at Trappers last night, the festivities continued into the early hours but opening all the wonderful presents we received cured any 'tiredness'. Christmas dinner will be served at stafe cafe with a traditional Greek theme which should be interesting at least.

Anna and I hosted a day trip to Kicking Horse ski resort in Golden, BC on the 20th of Dec. This is one of the many perks of working in HR. Anna skied like a demon, even with a broken arm and is now officially a skier. The Mountain was amazing, the powder was knee deep in places and the tree runs were awesome. We will definately try to return to this area for another day. Next trip is Panorama ski resort, can't wait.

Back at Sunshine it really has become the silly season, the expected number of skiers on the 27th of Dec is 7000! We average about 3000 on a normal day. Anna is bracing herself in her little deli. On christmas Eve a group of us skied and boarded down one of the runs in the dark holding massive flares as a torch light parade, apparently it looked very impressive and you'd hope so considering it was -30 outside and you couldn't see bumps or more importantly rocks on the way down. Thankfully there were no tumbles and the beer was icy cold at the bottom.

For those of you who love facts like me, here are a few about where we live:
Average annual snow fall: Up to 30 feet/9 meters
Skiable terrain: 3,358 acres
Best coffee on the mountain: Anna Saunders, Deli
Number of named runs: 107
Number of times John has fallen over on these runs: 1,756,005 (always safely Mum!)
Top elevation: 8954 feet (2730 meters)
Elevation where we live: About 7200 feet
Season length: mid November to late May

Hope you all had a fantastic Chrissie. We are thinking of you all, especially at this time of year.

Until next time, stay jolly.

John and Anna
