Last time I left you Steve and I were about to go skiing. There is one story of interest to come from that first morning on the mountain. Apart from a couple of great stacks, leaving Steve looking like frosty the snowman, Steve experienced vertigo…We had just finished a run with substantial mogul’s and were cruising past the magic carpet where children ride up to a mellow practice slope. Steve had to pull up at the bottom of this and suddenly turned as white as the snow that surrounded him. What followed can only be described as projectile. Parents were covering their children’s eyes and running for higher ground as the valley was flooded with sultana bran. Meanwhile I was giving it the ‘move along, nothing to see here’ while scooping white snow onto the brown snow, eeeeew. Since then Steve’s been fine, we have had bright bluebird days and he is loving it.
Anna, Steve and I went to Lake Louise on Friday and it was awesome! I strapped on skis for the second time and I loved it. After sliding 50m down the first blue run on my back head first, clutching my skis and poles to my chest, cursing, I recomposed myself and had a blast. I may even retire the snowboard and buy a set of skis, I loved it that much. My favourite run was ‘Grizzly Gully’ which had a few moguls in it (Anna’s favourite is still ‘Wooley Bully’ at Revelstoke). It is quite amusing to note our vastly different styles when it comes to negotiating the moguls. Anna: Elegant and petite. Steve: Determined and robust. Me: Thankful and fortunate.
Next on the agenda is a road trip to Golden and Fernie, can’t wait!
Congratulations to Simon and Zoe Mitchell who were married on Saturday the 8th of March. I’m sure the day was amazing. We’ll see you soon.
So long
