This is the great view of the sunset from our place.
I am proud to announce that we survived the winter at Sunshine and are now enjoying our new abode in Vancouver's trendy West End. The bus trip was filled with your usual greyhound weirdo's. Bruce was our weirdo, retired from the oil industry, with at least 4 children and a wife 30 years his junior; he had been on the bus since Halifax and was on his way to Vancouver a mere 6119km. It had become more than a mode of transport to Bruce, the bus had become part of his existence, he was a greyhound Ambassador! Although we never had a direct conversation with Bruce his stories echoed throughout the bus, his voice just louder than the drone of the bus on the road.
Despite the homelessness and crackheads that call Vancouver home, we are loving our new pad. At this stage we both remain jobless, however John has become well accustomed to this new lifestyle, myself a little more restless. I know I should be enjoying this time of leisure and no responsibility but in my attempt to remain busy and productive I have started creating lists .
List one: 10 Things we will miss about Banff
1. Skiing from our front door to the chairlifts
2. Powder days (although they were few and far between)
3. The mountain free skiing and riding
4. Watching the sunset over Wawa
5. Cheap rent
6. Cheap jugs at Trappers
7. Free internet and endless bludging at work.
8. 30m walk to work, leaving home at 7:59
9. Locals discount in Banff 10% of everything
10. All our awesome friends
List two: 10 things we will not miss about Banff
1. Having to wear thongs/jandals in the shower to prevent nasty foot fungus
2. Walking for 5 minutes across the village to do our washing
3. Frozen milk in the morning (Sure fire way to make Anna really mad in the morning)
4. -30 degrees ( The other day it was 3 degrees and we were warm!)
5. Staff Cafe - not being able to choose what to eat sux. (Would you like some vege's with that butter)
6. Living eating and sleeping in 200m2
7. The power going out when more than one item was plugged in!!
8. The wages
9. Having to go to town on at least one of your days off!
10. Having to listen to your neighbours all day and sometimes all night.
I sound like winger I know but really it was great. I am currently working on the 3rd list :10 things to do while we are in BC, I'll let you know how it goes, hopefully by the time that is done I will have a job!
Until next time........
