We bumped into Matt and Mani in the foyer of our hotel late afternoon, hugged, caught up and went for Dim Sum in Chinatown.
Alcatraz was ticked off first. While line ups kept us hot and restless for hours at a time it was definately worth it. The highlight was a great audio tour around the cell block. We were then treated to a culinary delight...Clam chowder in a sour dough bread bun...Quintessential San Fran and yummy. Environmentally friendly too as you eat your bowl! We walked home via Lombard St where people go crazy for the crookedest street in the world.
Day 2 involved Haight Ashbury, the heart of hippydom and extroverted characters, no identity crisis here. Matt was offered Marijuana a couple of times while riding the bus. He was already tripping off the mushrooms and holandaise he ate with his eggs benny that morning so declined. We found 'Amoeba Records' and got lost amongst CD's for an hour and a half. Later we biked the Golden Gate bridge which was probably the highlight of San Fran for me, aside from the clam chowder!
