My week began with an 8 hour wait at Geneva Airport due to heavy delays. Thankfully Nadal Vs Federer was on every available T.V screen. No prizes for guessing who the crowd favourite was. OOLA’s!! quickly became oh-la-la’s with Federer’s demise in the 5th set.
This was the first week of hosting corporate holiday makers. In theory this means a Company utilises our services to treat their clients to a few days skiing and socialising in an attempt to strengthen their business relationship. In practice, client representatives are treated to a very boozy ski holiday fully paid for under the guise of ‘work’. Everyone comes armed with a company credit card, and they are not afraid to use them. Not being ones to miss an opportunity, Anna and I constantly made ourselves available for free food and drinks.
The most commonly quoted phrase during the week was certainly ‘tough day at the office.’ The most amusing however was delivered by our very French guide to one of our guests. Nick was stranded on a very steep face while skiing so he called down to the guide ‘hey Steph, how do I get down from here?’ Steph replied as seriously as if he were a doctor explaining symptoms to a patient; ‘You joost use gravitee.’ Oh, if Nick had known it was that easy he wouldn't have bothered asking.
My week has ended as an exhausted little chalet host, late nights and early starts have taken their toll. Those corporate lads certainly know how to have a good time with company time and money. We are glad to have been there to enjoy it with them.
